UMKOMAAS GOLF CLUB
Length : 5605 meters
Par : 72
This natural parkland course has some bite to it. Currently being upgraded, thanks
to a grant from the National Lotto fund, Umkomaas is poised for some breathtaking
beauty and increased playability.
The 18th hole is the flattest and straightest, but far from the easiest. "Pasop
i-stiemela!" was the advice from the caddie as I sliced my drive, which simply
put means "mind the train!" Set alongside the sea where the ocean "breeze"
can bring the ball straight back at you, this is a truly enjoyable experience...and
then comes the bar.

UMDONI PARK GOLF CLUB
Length : 5560 meters
Par : 72
The "Gallery" is the feature hole of this one-time "playground
of presidents", and visiting Heads of State. This course is short by normal
standards but far from easy due to its many hills and protected greens. Always
in good condition and more challenging than it looks, the back 9 is sheltered
but tight, while the front 9 displays some of the best views of the Indian Ocean
on any golf course.
The 16th, called "the ladder" has got to be one of
the longest par 3's where you tee-off in heaven and take a long walk down to the
green below. This course will both smile at you, and then kick you in the face.
Fancy your chances?

SELBORNE GOLF CLUB
Length : 6050
Par : 72
Selborne's golf course is set in a natural, wild, coastal
environment that is teeming with wildlife and all kinds of
birds. The surrounding housing estate takes little from the
natural beauty and, if anything, makes one envious of the
home owners. This course is well manicured and rarely too busy to accommodate
visitors. With friendly staff and knowledgeable caddies of varying standard, you're
sure to enjoy not only your round, but the wonderful atmosphere that embodies
Selborne and all that it represents.
Selborne's golf buggies have recently been fitted with GPS's which brings a whole
new world of driving experience to many a golfer. There are many water holes on
the course, but this just adds to the playability and beauty of the round rather
than aimlessly swallowing up golf balls.

SCOTTBURGH GOLF CLUB
Length : 5323
Par : 69
This is the home course of the town of Scottburgh. Scottburgh was the first town
laid out outside of Durban and is a quiet, unassuming place where everyone is
welcome. It is the paradise of the Zulu Kingdom. Although the course is not difficult,
it still holds some challenges in the 7th hole, a par 4 stroke one on the card
and for good reason.
Getting there in 2 requires either guts or brilliance off the
tee, or both, just to set you up for a good chance at the green atop a gentle
hill to show you what it's made of. The third is a hole just begging to be hit,
and hit big. With dense bush and the beach on the left, and the out-of bounds
train line on the right, and only a little over 300m in length, how could you
refuse? Go on, give it a smack. Get there in one and we'll buy you a beer.
